Dirk Kuijt or known by the name of Dirk Kuyt is a Dutch professional footballer who played in the position of winger or striker and was born in Katwijk aan Zee, Netherlands on July 22, 1980. Originally Kuyt play as a striker, but his position later turned into a winger and a successful play in that position for both club and for the Dutch national team.
He started his professional football career with FC Ultrecht in 1998 and quickly became part of the club. Together FC Ultrecht, Kuyt played for 5 years before finally getting the honor at a senior club for the Dutch Cup and was selected as the Dutch Golden Shoe Winner.
Kuyt then moved to Feyenoord from FC Ultrecht with a transfer value of € 1 million. He became club captain in 2005 and became the most prolific goalscorer in 2005 together with the Rotterdam club. He became the club's top scorer for 3 seasons in a row and became an Eredivisie top scorer in the 2004-2005 season and 2005-2006 Dutch footballer of the Year.
Kuyt missed only five games over seven seasons from 1999 until 2006 and he appeared in 179 consecutive games in 2001-2006. Kuyt finally decided to join a club with Liverpool's English Premier League with a transfer value of £ 10000000 even though he has played for 3 seasons with Feyenoord and scored 71 goals in 101 appearances. She made her debut with Liverpool in late 2006 and soon became a core player in the club.
Kuyt appeared in the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool when it lost against AC Milan. Initiated international debut in 2004 and represented the Netherlands at the FIFA World Cup 2006, UEFA Euro 2008 and FIFA 2010 World Cup.
In life, Kuyt was the third of four brothers who grew up in the fishing town of Katwijk aan Zee. Football career began when he joined the local amateur team Quick Boys at age of 5 years.
He entered the first team in March 1998 and played six games last season with FC Ultrecht one club in the Eredivisie. Despite playing with a big club, but Kuyt is still frequently visited his hometown Katwijk and club Quick Boys, besides that he also benefited from £ 300,000 windfall for his move to Liverpool.
