Sebastian Coates Nion or known by the name of Sebastian Coates is a Uruguayan footballer who was born on October 7, 1990 in Montevideo, Uruguay, and he plays at center back position which earned the nickname of fans Luganito. Coates was born of a father who came from Scotland and mother of Uruguay.
Coates first time playing football when he joined the club Nacional at the age of 11 years. He began to sign a professional contract at age 18 years and first appeared against Bella Vista and he got the nickname 'man of the match' by El Pais. On August 30, 2011, Coates obtain work permits and signed a long-term contract with Liverpool with the transfer of an undisclosed value. Beginning with Liverpool debut against Tottenham as a late substitute appearances followed during win against Brighton Hove Albion in the League Cup.
Coates international career with Uruguayan national team started in 2009 when it strengthened Uruguay U-20 for the first leg in the playoffs Conmebol-Concacaf against Costa Rica as a substitute but did not play. He made his full international appearance against Chile in the 2011 Copa América and at the end of the tournament Coates received an award for 'best young players'
