Hugo Miguel Pereira de Almeida, better known by the name Hugo Almeida is a Portuguese footballer who was born on May 23, 1984 in Figueira da Foz, Portugal, and he plays center forward position in the national team of Portugal and in the club where he played.
Almeida's football career began at a young age in 1997 when he joined the Naval 1 º Maio club until 2000. Subsequently he moved to play for Porto for two seasons in 2000-2002. After two seasons playing at junior level, Almeida played at senior level with Porto B in 2002-2005 but was loaned to the União Leiria in 2003. During the loan period, Almeida scored three goals in thirteen appearances. Total appearances for Porto B is twenty-three and scored twenty-one goal. Then in 2003, Almeida plays for Porto until 2007 but he was loaned out to several clubs including União Leiria in 2004 and he was featured as many as fifteen times by scoring two goals. In the following season in 2005, Almeida moved on loan at Boavista during the season and scored three goals in fourteen appearances.
After the contract as a loan player for Boavista ended, he was loaned to a club in Germany with Werder Bremen League in 2006-2007 and scored five goals in twenty-eight appearances.
After a season on loan to Werder Bremen, finally in 2007 he became a permanent player and join the club for three seasons. During three seasons with Werder Bremen, Almeida scored a lot of up to thirty six and participate in the Champions League and UEFA Cup. In fact he managed to make a hat-trick against an amateur club called Eintracht Nordhorn.
Almeida then played with Besiktas which is one of the Super Lig club after agreeing a contract for three and a half years with a value of € 2 million. On May 11, 2011, he scored with a penalty kick in the Istanbul Cup against Turkey Büyükşehir Belediyespor in extra time.
Almeida joined the national team of Portugal from junior level up in the end he played at senior level.
Almeida made a full debut in a friendly match on February 18, 2004 against England and also participated donated victory in Toulon Tournament in 2003. He played for Portugal U-21 in 2004-2007 and managed to donate sixteen goals in twenty-seven appearances for his national team Portugal. Furthermore, he can take to strengthen the internationally at senior level in 2004 although at that Almeida was playing for the U-21. He joined scored the national team coach chose to play in the FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign in 2010 against Malta on September 6, 2008. Almeida entered the ranks of Portugal players who strengthen the national team for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and he had played against Ivory Coast.
