Hugo Miguel Pereira de Almeida, or known by the name of Hugo Almeida is a Portuguese footballer who was born in Figueira da Foz, Portugal on May 23, 1984 who played for the national team of Portugal as a center forward and the club which he joined.
Almeida played soccer first played football for the club in my hometown with Associação Naval 1 º de Maio before it was signed by FC Porto. Beginning he was playing in first division win against SL Benfica at the September 21, 2003. Almeida then loaned out to União de Leiria and Boavista FC. He returned to FC Porto in the 2005-2006 season and became a pretty important role with the club. When the Champions League, Almeida scored a spectacular free kick from 35 yards when they lost against Inter Milan at San Siro. In the 2006-2007 season, he was loaned and solid in his debut with the Bundesliga club SV Werder Bremen. Almeida scored ten goals in 41 appearances, including when it lost to RCD Espanyol in the UEFA Cup semifinals. Almeida decided to move permanently with Werder Bremen in August 2007 with a value of € 4 m for a four-year contract.
In the 2007-2008 season, he got a very important role with the club, including the current scoring two goals against VfB Stuttgard and finished that season with 16 goals in all competitions and helped the club to the Bundesliga runners-up.
In 2008-2009, Almeida scored nine goals and adding four goals in five games in the League Cup final which included first win for Bremen when scoring a hat-trick against Eintracht. In the Champions League, Almeida scored two goals and earned the nickname 'Fans' Man of the Match' when playing a draw against Anorthosis Famagusta FC. When lowered to the level of Bremen UEFA Cup, he contributed by scoring in eight games and eventually reached the final against FC Shakhtar Donetsk after he received a yellow card in the semi-final against Hamburg SV.
In the 2009-2010 season, Almeida started as a player who was on the bench. However, he scored seven goals in the domestic league with a total of eleven goals and helped Bremen in third to qualify in the play-off round of the Champions League. In the 2010-2011 season, he scored six goals in 10 league matches in the first.
On November 28, 2010, he scored against FC St. Pauli, and at the last minute Almeida was sent off for elbowing an opponent.
On Christmas Eve 2010, after he scored eleven goals in 21 official games for Bremen on the season, Almeida joined Besiktas JK with a period of three and a half year contract with a value of € 2,000,000. Then on May 11, 2011, he scored with a penalty at Istanbul Cup win against one of the clubs named Büyükşehir Belediyespor Turkey in extra time.
Together with the national team of Portugal, Almeida was first signed for the U-15. Debut begins when a friendly match against England on February 18, 2004, and helped Portugal to win the Toulon Tournament in 2003. Almeida was Called for Portugal's final three qualifiers in the UEFA Euro 2008 and scored the first goal against Azerbaijan, the next time win against Armenia.
Almeida was chosen by national team coach of Portugal on September 6, 2009 when the campaign against Malta in 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification. After the naturalization Liedson Sporting Clube de Portugal at the end of 2009, he played in the first game of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa against Ivory Coast.
