Luís Carlos Almeida da Cunha, or better known as Nani is a Portuguese footballer who was born in Praia, Cape Verde on 17 November 1986 and he played as a winger with the Portugal national team and English giants Manchester United in the Premier League.
Nani was born off the west coast of Africa with his family emigrated to Portugal at an early age. At age five, his father went for a holiday to Cape Verde but never returned, and when he was 12 years old his mother left Portugal and start a new life in the Netherlands. When he was 14, his brother took him to train with Real Massamá subsequently when the age of 16 years replaced by Nani Sporting and Benfica. Sporting finally offers a pre-season training for Nani.
Nani joined the club Sporting CP Massamá, he won the Junior National Championships in 2004-2005 and he was promoted to first team early in the season 2005-2006. On 10 August 2005, Nani made his debut with Sporting initially as a substitute against Udinese in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying. He scored the first goal on 30 October and ended his first season with 36 appearances and scored five goals.
Nani began to be known after scoring in the Champions League against Spartak Moscow on September 27, 2006. Nani helped Sporting won the Portuguese Cup in 2006-2007, exactly after the final win over Belenenses on 27 May 2007. After that he referred to as 'SJPF Young Player of the Month' for May 2007 and ended that season with 40 appearances and scored six goals.
Nani was sold to Manchester United with a value of € 25,500,000 and on June 6, 2007 he passed the medical next month later he signed a contract for five years. Nani makes competitive debut in the Community Shield against Chelsea on August 5, 2007.
On February 16, 2008, Nani plays in the fourth round of the FA Cup against Arsenal then he played as a substitute in the final of the UEFA Champions League 2008 when Chelsea defeated. In that season, he scored the first goal on 23 September 2008 and Manchester United's third goal against Middlesbrough and secure the fourth round of the Carling Cup.
After the Ronaldo move to Madrid in the 2009 season, Nani opened the scoring in the 2009 FA Community Shield but Manchester United ultimately lost the race penalty. In the summer of 2009, Nani scored first in the league at the win against Wigan Athletic on August 29. On January 31, 2010, Nani scored a goal in the domestic league game against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
On March 26, Nani signed a new contract with United for four years and then scored the first goal against Bayern Munich in the European League after a contract extension. Overall Nani scored seven goals in 34 appearances in all competitions. In season 2009-2010, Nani scored against West Bromwich precisely on October 16, 2010 and four days later he scored a goal in the Champions League game against Bursaspor.
On 18 April 2011 he was included in the 'PFA Premier League Team of the Year' for the first time the players selected for the 'Player of the Year'.
Together with the national team of Portugal, Nani was first squad in 2006 UEFA U-21 Championship and became the youngest player when they lost against France.
During the 2007 European Under-21 Football Championship, Nani made four appearances and scored one goal victory against Israel in the group stage on June 16, 2007.
Nani made his first appearance with the senior team of Portugal on September 1, 2006 and marked the defeat against Denmark. But he helped in a friendly against Italy on February 6, 2008. Nani still called to Portugal squad for UEFA EURO 2008, but he only played in the quarterfinals when they lost to Germany on June 19, 2008.
International Nani scored a fourth place at the last moment a friendly match win against the Faroe Islands before World Cup qualifying campaign FIFA 2010. He helped Portugal in a play-off for the 2010 FIFA World Cup against Malta and Bosnia. Nani included in the 23-man squad for Portugal national team for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. But in a game on June 8, 2010 he suffered an injury and replaced by another player. Nani listed by name in the UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying victory over Denmark on October 8, 2010.
