Martín Caceres
José Martín Cáceres Silva is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a defender and was born in Montevideo, Uruguay on April 7, 1987. Cáceres football career started in Uruguay with Defensor Sporting Club when he was young and he became a regular first team player. During the season 2006-2007, he made 26 appearances and scored eight goals. After an impressive season, Cáceres moved to La Lia Spanish club Villarreal CF together but in July 2007 from Villarreal he was loaned out to Recreativo de Huelva.
Furthermore, Cáceres actually transfer to the club Recreativo Huelva in August 2007 but only one season. On January 9, 2008, he scored a goal while playing against Villarreal CF in the Copa del Rey match. In the first season, he played almost in 40 official matches and scored four goals later he returned to the club Villarreal but sold directly to big club Barcelona.
Cáceres joined Barcelona on June 4, 2008 with the transfer costs € 16,500,000, a klausual purchases of € 50,000,000 included in the deal until the end of 2012. He rarely played by Barca coach because of injury even after the defender recovered only to be fourth choice. Cáceres participated lift Cup victory when Barcelona beat Athetico Bilbao in the Copa del Rey 2009. He also shared in the victory of the UEFA 2009 Champions League final as Barcelona beat Manchester United and complete The Treble.
In August 2009, he was transferred to an Italian club Juventus. On August 6, 2009, Barcelona announced a loan to Juventus with a choice of a permanent move at the end of the 2009-2010 season with a value of € 11,000,000 plus € 1 million in payments variable. Cáceres made his debut in Serie A and scored the opening goal as Juventus against Lazio, but in that season he was disturbed because of injury.
On August 27, Cáceres joined the Spanish club Sevilla to loan the player status and the option to buy at € 5 million.
Cáceres started playing with the Uruguay national team U-20 at the 2007 FIFA U-20 Word Cup held in Canada. Together with the national team he plays in the position of center back and left back. Cáceres never received a red card while playing against Argentina. He entered the Uruguayan national squad, 23 teams in the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa. On July 27, 2010, Cáceres played a friendly match against Angola in Lisbon.
