Javier 'Javi' Martínez Aguinaga or known by the name Javi Martinez is a Spanish footballer who played in the midfielder position and was born on September 2, 1988 in Estella, Spain.
Athletico de Bilbao contract with Martínez a value of € 6 million when he was 17 years old. Martínez quickly became a core player in the club and scored two goals as against Depottivo la Coruna on December 16, 2006. He scored three goals in 35 games and helped Atletico to the Spanish Cup final in 2009. In the summer of 2009, Martínez reportedly moved to Liverpool to replace Xabi Alonso, who joined Madrid. But the news is just rumor and Martínez was still playing for the club Athletico Bilbao. Martinez first began his career with the Spanish national team at U-21 European Championship group stage in Sweden when she was 19 years old.
