Gianluca Zambrotta is known as an Italian footballer who was born in Como, Italy on February 19, 1977 and he played as a wingback.
Zambrotta started his professional career in his native region with Como Calcio in 1994 at the age of 17 years. In his first season he only played one game before eventually being promoted to Serie B Como in 1995. He made 47 appearances and scored 6 goals in the 1995-1997 season.
In 1997, Zambrotta played for the club Bari after the club's promotion to Serie A, he played in the position of left wing and scored 2 goals in 27 appearances. Zambrotta continued to shine and even become the club's key figures, scoring the opening goal at San Siro against Inter. He became the first player in 50 years Bari who entered the national team squad and get a chance in a friendly against Norway. During the year 1998-1999, Zambrotta made 32 appearances and scored four goals to Bari until mid-season on July 1, 1999 he was taken by club Juventus with a transfer value of 30 billion Italian lire (€ 15 million, but € 1.25M paid through the right Simone Perotta 50%) who will be playing in Jersey after the start of the season. Zambrotta won four Scudetto with Juventus and made 217 appearances with 7 goals in 6 seasons. In the 2005-2006 season, he switched back to right-back position. He extended the contract until 2010, but after Juventus relegated to Serie B due to Calciopoli case, Zambrotta decided to leave the club and join a big Spanish club Barcelona with a transfer value of € 14 million over 4 years on August 4, 2006.
Zambrotta started his career with Barca on 17 August 2006 against Espanyol in the Spanish Super Cup first leg and on 17 March 2007 he scored the first goal when league against Recreativo. In 2 seasons with Juventus, Zambrotta has made 58 appearances and scored 3 goals before returning to Italy and joined Milan.
On May 31, 2008, Zambrotta signed a contract for 3 years with Milan with a transfer value of € 9 million to € 2 million will be added depending on appearances to defend Milan in the Champions League. In 2003, when Maldini retired from international football he became the choice to enter the national team. Zambrotta scored the first time on May 30, 2004 as against Tunisia. Although Italy left out in the group stage the UEFA EURO 2004 but Zambrotta become one of the Italian players who praised his performance.
After disappointing in two big tournaments, he was elected to the Italian national team squad selected by coach Lippi after replacing Trappattoni. Zambrotta played in 8 of 10 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and helped win the group. On May 15, 2006, he was elected to the national team squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. During the final preparations at the Azzurri training game on May 28, 2006, Zambrotta suffered an injury and he missed the opening game against Ghana and won the match on June 12, 2006.
Zambrotta return to play while Italy against the United States on June 17, 2006 and he played at left-back position. After winning the match and become champions group against Czech Republic on June 22, 2006, move its position as the right-back. On lap 16 dated June 26, 2006 Italy against Australia, Zambrotta played a game at right-back position. On June 30, 2006, Zambrotta scored the opening goal when Italy against Ukraine. Then, during the Italy against Germany in the semi-finals on July 4, 2006, he scored again in the 90th minute of extra-time entry.
On July 9, 2006, Zambrotta played the final of a major international tournament after he missed the final UEFA UERO 2000. Participate Zambrotta won the 2006 FIFA World Cup after the Italian beat France on penalty shoot-half although he was not chosen as the executor.
