Luuk de Jong is a Dutch footballer who was born in Aigle, Switzerland on August 27, 1990 the Dutch national team and club FC Twente as a striker.
He made his debut in the Eredivisie match against NAC Breda as a substitute. De Jong scored the first goal in the match against FC Twente. He suffered an ankle injury against NEC Nijmegen and returned to play in the play-offs for promotion in the home game against RKC Waalwijk but defended the club De Graafschap who still can not survive in the Eredivisie.
On April 6, 2009, De Jong signed a contract with Twente for 3 years and started playing against SC Vujičević as a substitute in the second half. He scored a goal early in the game against Capelle. De Jong also played for his club in the League during the match against Rubin Kazan. He scored his first goal for FC Twente in the home game against Heerenveen on April 10, 2010.
In the 2011-2012 season, de Jong played in the play-off for Twente in the Champions League first leg against Benfica on August 16, 2011. He scored against Waalwijk on January 21, 2012 in the league. De Jong completed the 2011-2012 season with 25 goals and became the second leading scorer in the Eredivisie league. Reported on June 8, 2012, one of the English club Newcastle bid for it with a value of £ 8 million but was rejected by the Twente.
His international career with the Dutch national team when de Jong received the first call in a friendly against Austria on February 9, 2011 as a substitute. He scored the first goal with the senior squad for the Dutch national team on September 6, 2011 in the UEFA Euro 2012 qualifier against Finland. De Jong was appointed while 36 players in the squad at Euro 2012 tournament on May 7, 2012, and eventually he became pillihan 23 for the Dutch squad at the UEFA Euro 2012 Poland-Ukraine but not played in every game.
