Julio Cesar Soares EspĂndola or known name with Julio Cesar is a Brazilian footballer who began his career internationally with the national team in 2003, when he was often a backup goalie. He also made the Brazilian team for the Confederations Cup in 2003 but did not play. His appearance was the first time when the Copa America in 2004 and he played in all matches in the tournament and became the main goalkeeper. When the final match against Argentina, Julio Cesar managed to block a penalty kick for the first time and helped Brazil win. He entered in the Brazil squad for the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup and Copa America 2007, but Julio Cesar just became the third goalkeeper for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. After that became the main goalkeeper Dida retired from the Brazilian national team, he competed to be the main goalkeeper, but national team coach Dunga finally chose Doni in September 2007. Julio Cesar play at the next international tournament, for the 2009 Confederations Cup when Brazil won against the United States in the final. He was selected in the squad 23-man Brazil's national team for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and became the second world cup for him.
Julio Cesar criticism against the Dutch in the quarterfinals because Brazil conceded two goals and eventually defeat and should be eliminated from the tournament.
