Riccardo Montolivo is an Italian footballer who was born in Caravaggio, Italy on January 18, 1985 and he is now strengthening the Serie A club Fiorentina and the Italian national team as a midfielder.
Montolivo started his career in Serie B along with the Atlanta club when he was only eighteen. He played in 40 games and scored four goals during that season that made the Atlanta to get a promotion to Serie A. In his first season with Atlanta, Montolivo played 32 times and scored three goals, but Atlanta should be relegated to Serie B again.
Montolivo move to Fiorentina in the summer of 2005 and the 2006-2007 season Montolivo show ourselves as an experienced player. Later in the 2007-2008 season he became one of the best players and scored a goal for Fiorentina when play against Empoli. In the next season, Montoivo shows itself during the championships as one of the best talents in Italian football clubs defended despite experiencing ups and downs. In early 2010, due to the Departures of then-captain Dario Dainelli and vice-captain Martin Jørgensen, Montolivo was appointed captain of the Tuscany-based club.
Montolivo played professionally for the first time with the Italian national team for U-21 in 2004. On October 10, 2006, he scored the winning goal when Italy beat Spain for the 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship. And on October 17, 2007, Montolivo made his debut for the Azzurri in a victory in a friendly against South Africa, and he also called to the squad before the tournament while Italy's UEFA EURO 2008 but eventually his name is not listed in the final squad. Montolivo called to participate in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and in the tournament he scored one goal. After he only played a bit at the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009, he started all 3 games in the 2010 FIFA World Cup as a substitute Andrea Pirlo is injured.
