Fernando José Torres Sanz is known by the name of Fernando Torres and is nicknamed 'El Nino' or 'The Kid' is a Spanish player who was born in Fuenlabrada, Spain on March 20, 1984 and played in the striker position.
Torres early career with the Spanish national team in February 2001 Algarve wins under-16 tournament. Torres also took part in the 2001 UEFA European under-16 Football Championship in May and Torres are the only players who scored in the final. Torres scored the most goals and was selected as the best player in the tournament.
In September 2001, Torres represented under-17 team in 2001 FIFA under-17 World Championship, but should be eliminated in the preliminary round group.
In July 2002, Torres won the 2002 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship and became the top scorer.
Torres made his first debut in the senior Spanish national team on September 6, 2003 in a friendly match against Portugal. Torres first goal for Spain against Italy on April 28, 2004. Torres was chosen to strengthen the squad for the Spanish national team in the UEFA Euro 2004. In 2006 FIFA World Cup qualification Torres scored seven goals in 11 appearances. At first appearance at the FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany, Torres scored the last goal against Ukraine.
In this season, finished the tournament with Torres scoring the most goals with David Villa.
Torres was called in the Spanish national team squad in the UEFA Euro 2008 and scored the first goal of the tournament in the first game against Russia. In the next game against Sweden, Torres scored the first goal for Spain to take forward into the final against Germany. When playing against Germany in the final, Torres scored the single goal which finally brought Spain to win the final and winning the UEFA Euro 2008 for the first time.
On March 28, 2009, Torres Spanish national team victory in the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification. Torres scored the second hat-trick in 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup match against New Zealand on 14 June. In the preliminary round World Cup group in 2010, Torres did not play when Spain defeated Switzerland in the first qualifying stage. Allowance for the next game in the group against Honduras and Chile, Torres helped Spain win to advance to the next round. Spanish national team in the semi-final defeat in 2010 FIFA World Cup Germany and the Spanish national team delivers up to the final. In the final, Torres was playing as a substitute in the 105th minute and the Spanish national team defeated the Netherlands, on July 11, 2010 which finally brought Spain as the 2010 FIFA World Cup Champion for the first time.
