Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is a Dutch footballer who plays for Schalke 04 and the Dutch national team as a striker and was born on August 12, 1983 at Voor-Drempt, Achterhoek, Netherlands.
At age 5, Huntelaar joined the local soccer team VV H. en K where he played for 6 years. Later he signed a contract in the junior team with De Graafschap on 6 April 1994 at the age of 11 years. Huntelaar played with the club on the left wing position, attacking midfield, left back even as a goalkeeper, but in his third year he was placed as a striker. In the 1997-1998 season, when he was 14 years old he became the main striker for the team at De Graafschap C and scored 33 goals in 20 games. In 1999-2000, Huntelaar was promoted to the B1 and the team's top scorer who joined PSV finally withdrawn and the contract signed in July 2000.
At his first season at PSV, Huntelaar proves itself to be a prolific scorer in junior A1 team. In addition to playing on the junior team, he also recommended to play for the senior squad. And his debut on 23 November 2002 against RBC Roosendaal as a substitute in the second half.
In early 2003 Huntelaar returned to De Graafschap and made his debut on February 8, 2003 as a substitute. He made his last appearance for the club before dropping to the division on May 29, 2003 against FC Zwolle.
In early 2003-2004, Huntelaar was loaned to a new club called AGOVV Apeldorn and first made his debut against TOP OSS, he scored a hat-trick in the second league match against Heracles Almelo and finish the season as top scorer.
Current status as a loan end up Huntelaar with AGOVV, he refused to play for PSV, and choose to join with SC Heerenveen and Huntelaar had scored against AZ. Huntelaar in the squad for the UEFA season after scoring 17 goals in 31 games. He was still playing with Heerenveen in the 2005-2006 season and scored 17 goals in 15 games.
In January 2006, Huntelaar was signed by the club AFC Ajax in the amount of € 9,000,000 plus an incentive of € 1,350,000 or 15%. Huntelaar made his debut originally on February 5, 2006 as against Heerenveen in the KNVB Cup. He was among the players who played in the UEFA Champions League that season against one of the Italian Serie A club Internazionale. He completed the 2005-2006 season as top scorer with 33 goals and a total of 44 goals in 47 appearances until he was featured in the Eredivisie play-off for Champions League qualification. Huntelaar got the nickname "Dutch Football Talent of the Year and Ajax Player of the Year for 2005-06". In July 2006, Huntelaar became the first goalscorer at the Emirates stadium and get the captain's armband for Ajax in the 2006-2007 season. At this season, Huntelaar played in the UEFA Cup with Ajax against Bremen because the club lost a few games. This season he played again in the playoffs to get into the Champions League against Heerenveen. In the KNVB Cup, he scored 4 goals in 6 games. Huntelaar scored his 100 goals in the Eredivisie with a hat-trick against De Graafschap. In the 2008-2009 season, he won the trust as a permanent team captain and scored 9 goals in 15 appearances in all competitions before it had a torn ankle ligament injury on November 9, 2008 in a match against Rotterdam.
In early December 2008, Madrid signed a contract with Ajax for Huntelaar with an estimated cost of € 20 million and has the potential to increase to € 27 million. He made his debut early on January 4, 2009 against Villarreal. Huntelaar into the squad in the Champions League in the 2008-2009 season, but he only played half a season with Real Madrid.
In August 2009, Huntelaar is transferred to one of Serie A Italian League with Milan with a value of € 15 million over four years and debut in the TIM Trophy tournament friendly on August 14, 2009. He often was on the bench for Milan together, but Huntelaar scored a spectacular goal from 30 meters during the match against Cagliari.
On August 31, 2010, Milan reached an agreement with Schalke 04 for Huntelaar transfer the value of € 12 million. He scored the first goal for Schalke on 19 September 2010 when losing to Dortmund. Huntelaar also scored in the UEFA Champions League on 24 November 2010 against Lyon. On July 31, 2011, he was with Raul as a partnership in the match against FC Teningen DFB Pokal. Huntelaar scored four goals in the qualifying play-off against the UEFA Europa League HJK Helsinki. He completed the 2009-2010 season with 29 goals in 34 games in the league and became the first Dutch player who scored the most goals in the Bundesliga.
Together with the Dutch national team, Huntelaar played in the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship and scored 2 goals before the exit at the quarter-finalshttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif by Egypt. He entered the Dutch squad for the FIFA 2006 World Cup squad but not selected because it was sent to play the final in the UEFA U-21 Championship held in Portugal and he became the top scorer with 18 goals in 22 games.
After doing well in U-21 squad, Huntelaar was selected to enter the Dutch senior team and start a match against the Republic of Ireland on August 16, 2006. He also played for the UEFA Euro 2008 qualifiers against Romania and Slovenia.
On May 27, 2010, the Dutch manager announced that Huntelaar to be part of the final squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. The first senior-level international matches against Japan and then he becomes a substitute when the Dutch against Cameroon on June 24, 2010 at Green Point stadium in Cape Town. When the final defeat against Spain he did not play. Huntelaar scored a hat-trick at Euro 2012 qualifying match at the Stadio Olimpico against San Marino on September 3, 2010. In October 2011, Huntelaar won 48 caps for Holland and scored a total of 30 goals.
