Glen McLeod Cooper Johnson or better known as Glen Johnson is an English footballer who was born on August 23, 1984 in Greenwich, London, England and played at right back position and he plays for the England national team and club Liverpool.
Johnson is the initial product of education West Ham United in 2000 when he was 15 years old, he signed first professional contract on August 1, 2001 at the age of 16 years. In the 2001-2002 season, Johnson made an appearance but only as a backup player. He eventually signed on loan with Millwall on 17 October 2002 and made his debut against Norwich City on October 19, 2002. Johnson made his debut against several other clubs in the 2002-2003 season and he totally made 15 League appearances. He signed a new contract for 4 years and remained in London on March 18, 2003.
On July 15, 2003, Johnson signed a contract with Chelsea for a transfer fee of £ 6 million. Debut originally began on August 17, 2003 as against Liverpool. Johnson's total appearances with Chelsea in all competitions for the 2003-2004 season were 63 appearances.
In a match in the FA Cup fifth round against Newcastle, Johnson signed to play as a substitute. He made 17 appearances in the 2004-2005 season when Chelsea won the Premier League.
In the 2005-2006 season underway, Johnson made an appearance earlier against West Bromwich.
He decided to join Portsmouth on loan in July 2006 because there is change in the Chelsea coach and he's hard to get a spot on the team. On August 31, 2007, Johnson was signed by Portsmouth's new for 4 years with a value of £ 4,000,000. On October 20, 2007, he scored the first goal and then go win the FA Cup Final in 2008. Johnson also won the 'Match of the goal day' award in November for having scored a goal from a distance with his left foot against Hull City. On June 22, 2009, Liverpool announced the transfer of Johnson and the signing of the contract occurred on June 29, 2009 for four years.
His debut with Liverpool on July 15, 2009 when pre-season match against St. Gallen. On August 30, 2009, Johnson suffered ligament injury and should be absent for one month, in March he returned to play and scored against Sunderland. He went on to reach the Semi Final appearance of the UEFA Europa League and the total he played 35 times with 3 goals. 2010-2011 season begins when play against Arsenal. On July 6, 2011, Johnson signed a contract extension with Liverpool.
Johnson has a rationale for the development of soccer with the founding of the Glen Johnson Soccer School in 2007 along with former West Ham United footballer named Sam Taylor-based Dartfort, Kent is the main focus is training and development in local schools.
Johnson began his international career with England's national team as a substitute on 18 November 2003 against Denmark for the U-21. After playing not so good for England's friendly against Denmark in August 2005, Johnson lost his position. During the FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign in 2010, he became the first choice as a right back. Johnson scored his first goal during a friendly match against Mexico on May 24, 2010 at Wembley Stadium, next on March 29, 2011 when Ghana but was later replaced by another player.
On June 4, 2011, Johnson played for 90 minutes in the UEFA EURO 2012 qualifier against Switzerland with a score draw. Currently he is the first choice right back for the Three Lions and has won 34 caps and scored a single goal since 2003.
