Federico Marchetti is a footballer who currently plays in Serie A for the club Cagliari and the Italian national team.
In May 2009, Marchetti received a call from the Italian national team coach to appear in a friendly against Northern Ireland after an impressive appearance with the club Cagliari.
Marchetti made a surprise debut appearance at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa when he replaces the injured Buffon at half time during the Italy against Paraguay in Group F. In Marchetti's next two matches, he allowed goals in four out of five shots on goal.
