Victorio Maximiliano 'Maxi' Pereira Paez or better known as Maxi Pereira is a footballer who plays Uruguay in the right back position and can also as a midfielder. He was born on June 8, 1984 in Montevideo.
Pereira is now playing in the Portuguese first division club joined SL Benfica.
Pereira played football for the first time professionally for Defensor Sporting at the age of 18 years in the season 2002-2003. Career best when Pereira scored 16 goals in season 2005.
In season 2006-2007, Pereira went to the Sport Lisboa e Benfica with a transfer value of € 3 million and as much as 70% are entitled.
At the start of the season with Benfica, Pereira played as a midfielder, but failed to adjust. He played in the League when against Boavista FC with the score 6-1 and then in the Champions League Pereira scored a single and a 1-1 draw against AC Milan.
The next season he played at right back position to replace Marcos Nelson, who moved to Real Betis. In 2009-2010, Pereira joined deliver Benfica won the league after 5 years. During that season Pereira appeared in 40 games and scored 5 goals in 2932 minutes.
His international career with the national team of Uruguay started in 2007 Copa America after he lost the opportunity to play on October 26, 2005 in Mexico.
Pereira picked for the Uruguayan national team squad at the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa. He played in every game until the final quarter when the match against Ghana and scored a first goal in his international career with the national team but were eventually defeated Uruguay by the Dutch in the next round.
