Ridder Giovanni Christiaan van Bronckhorst, or known by the name of Giovanni van Bronckhorst is a Dutch footballer who plays at left-back position or as a defensive midfielder. He was born on February 5, 1975 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
van Bronckhorst is Dutch-Indonesian descent footballer and was a captain of the Dutch national team from August 2008. During his career Van Bronckhorst played with RKC Waalwijk (1993-1994), Feyenoord (1994-1998), Rangers (1998-2001), Arsenal (201-2003), FC Barcelona (2003-2007) and returned to Feyenoord (2007 - 2010).
He also became an important player in the victory with Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League in 2005-2006 season when Arsenal. van Bronckhorst has gained more than 100 caps for the Dutch national team and played in three FIFA World Cup in 1998, 2006 and 2010 and 3 UEFA European Championship in 2000, 2004 and 2008.
After the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, van Bronckhorst was elected in the Order of Orange-Nassau.
