Heiko Westermann
Heiko Westermann is a German footballer who was born in Alzenau in Bavaria, West Germany on August 14, 1983 and he played in the position of defender or defensive midfielder.
Westermann started his career as a professional footballer with the club Greuther Furth and joined the senior squad in July 2002. On January 26, 2003 Westermann play and win against MSV Duisburg. He played 92 games with the club Greuther Furth and scored five goals.
In the 2004-2005 season, Westermann contracted and promoted Bundesliga club Arminia Bielefeld. He played in his first season, including in 34 league games and five games with the DFB-Pokal.
In 2007, Westermann Schalke moved to trasfer cost € 2.8 million. He played on July 24 against FC Nuremberg and his professional debut in the Bundesliga on August 26, 2007. Westermann also strengthen Schalke in the Champions League and he played for a full-time. In the years 2008-2009, Westermann play center back position when Schalke trained by Fred Rutten. He scored two goals in the DFB-Pokal when against Hannover 96 and scored a goal for the equalizer when against Werder Bremen.
In July 2010, Westermann played for Hamburger SV with a transfer value of € 7.5 million.
Westermann played for the German national team in February 2008 against Austria. Westermann also played with the German national team in the UEFA Euro 2008. Westermann scored as against the United Arab Emirates on June 2, 2009 but in the match against Hungary he had to get out because of injury. Westermann played 19 games, scoring three goals since 2008.
