Fernando Llorente Torres is a Spanish footballer who was born on February 26, 1985 in Pamplona, Navarre, Spain. He is known for playing in the striker position.
Although born in Pamplona in a hospital where her aunt worked, Llorene raised in the municipality of Rincon de Soto in La Rioja.
Llorente joined Athletico de Bilbao junior in 1996 when aged 11 years. He spent several seasons at the junior high level the various clubs and then in 2003 he was the CD Baskonia. Together Baskonia, he scored 12 goals in 33 appearances and open the way to Athletico Bilbao, Athletic is the reserve team in the Segunda Division B. After scoring four goals in 16 matches for Athletic Bilbao in the first half of the season, Llorente get a contract extension until June 2008. On January 16, 2005, when he made his debut against RCD Espanyol first then 3 days later Lliorente scored a hat-trick in the Spanish Cup when against UD Lanzarote. In the European Cup, Llorente also appeared in 4 games including when against FK Austria Wien.
Throughout the 2005-2006 season, Llorente scored on the opening day but he suffered a series of knee injuries and muscle, so this season Llorente scored only four goals in League and Cup including when against the CE L'Hospitalet. On December 13, 2006, Llorente signed a new contract with Athletico Bilbao until June 2011, including buy-out clause of € 30 and 50 million. Llorente became the fourth choice striker, so he only scored 2 goals in 23 matches, including when against Valencia.
In season 2007-2008, Llorente scored 6 goals in pre-season as well as against CD Numancia in the Caja Duero Trophy. From there he became the top choice striker even though he only scored 11 goals in the league. Llorente goals scored between the other four goals against Valencia, and when against Barcelona, Villarreal and Athletico Madrid.
In the 2008-2009 season, Llorente scored 14 goals and a career best, including 4 goals in the Cup and helped the team get to the final against Barcelona.
In season 2009-2010, Llorente led all scorers in the European League for the long term with 8 goals. Then scored 14 goals in league and placed Athletic Bilbao in the position eight.
Subsequently on August 28, 2010, Llorente scored the first goal when the win against Hercules CF.
Llorente began his career with the Spanish national team at the FIFA World Youth Championship 2005 by scoring 5 goals and he got a 'silver boots' as the second highest goalscorer.
On November 14, 2008, Llorente called by coach del Bosque in the senior squad for the friendly match against Chile.
He scored his first goal as Spain won against England on February 11, 2009 as a substitute in the 64th minute. After scoring 14 goals in 2008-2009 season with Bilbao, del Bosque called Llorente entered the Spanish squad for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 and he scored a goal and achieve victory when against South Africa.
In season 2009-2010, Llorente not be invoked for the Spanish national team, but for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, coach del Bosque eventually chose him to be the third striker who only played in 1 game in the round of 16 as against Portugal.
Llorente also been summoned several times by the Basque Coutry national team and scored 1 goal in a match against Catalonia at the Nou Camp in 2006.
