Bastian Schweinsteiger is a German footballer who was born in Kolbermoor, Bavaria on August 1, 1984 and he played in the position of central midfielder.
Together with the German national team, Bastian Schweinsteiger makes international debut in 2004 in a friendly against Hungary. After entering the U-21 squad, Schweinsteiger appear disappointing in the European Championship in 2004. Schweinsteiger makes the first two international goals on June 8, 2005 against Russia and scored his first goal in the Confederations Cup in Germany against Tunisia on June 18, 2005. Schweinsteiger was elected into the German squad at the FIFA World Cup in 2006 and was selected as the 'Man of the Match' as against Portugal.
During the UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying, Schweinsteiger scored two goals in the match against San Marino and Germany scored again against Slovakia. Schweinsteiger also scored in the semi-final victory against Turkey and he became team captain for the first time in a friendly match against United Arab Emirates.
Schweinsteiger strengthen Germany in 2010 FIFA World Cup and he played nine of 10 games and contributed three goals. During the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Ballack, Schweinsteiger believed to replace the position of being injured. Schweinsteiger was chosen as 'Man of the Match' in 2010 when the FIFA World Cup Germany against Argentina. However, in the quarter-finals 2010 FIFA World Cup Germany was defeated by Spain. In the third fight game, Schweinsteiger has served as team captain to replace Lahm who is sick and the German team won the match defeating Uruguay. Schweinsteiger was selected as one of the players who won the 'Golden Ball' and overall he played 81 times with 21 goals for Germany starting on July 10, 2010 since his debut in the year 2004 began. Schweinsteiger played in big tournaments with Germany in the UEFA Euro 2004 in Portugal, FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany, UEFA Euro 2008 in Austria-Switzerland, 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
