Michael Brett Emerton is an Australian footballer born in Bankstown, Sydney, Australia on February 22, 1979 and played in the position of right wing-back or midfielder. Emerton is a genuine product Australian Institute of Sport and started his career with Sydney Olympic in the National Soccer League in August 1996. After the 1996-2000 season at the Sydney Olympic, Emerton joined Feyenord in August 2000 with the transfer cost £ 415,000 and won the UEFA Cup Winners Medal in May 2002. Emerton then joined Blackburn Rovers for four years in July 2003. Emerton is the captain of the 'Olyroos', Australia's Olympic football team at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. Emerton to play in World Cup play-off against Uruguay in November 2005, when the Socceroos qualify in the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Germany and the first time Australia reached the World Cup finals since 1974.
