Francesc 'Cesc' Fàbregas i Soler is a Spanish footballer who was born on May 4, 1987 at Vilassar de Mar, Barcelona Catalonia, Spain, and he played in the midfielder position.
In the 2008-2009 season November 14, 2008 is a week-14, Fabregas is called the successor of William Gallas as club captain. Fabregas started his career at the international level with the Spanish national team when he was young. In 2003 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Finland, Fabregas is the top scorer in the tournament even though he played in central midfield position and he was voted Player of the Tournament. Spain finished runners-up in the tournament in Brazil. Fabregas was also involved in the 2004 U-17 Championship and Spain also was runner-up but he was nicknamed the Golden Player of the tournament.
Once a key player in club Arsenal, Fabregas was called on the Spanish national team by coach Luis Aragones for the friendly against Ivory Coast. In those games, Fabregas is the youngest player in 70 years Spain and defeated Sergio Ramos.
On May 15, 2006, Fabregas was elected to the Spanish national team squad for the World Cup in 2006. In the same tournament, Fabregas as a substitute in the second half and helped contribute Fernando Torres scored a goal in time to beat Tunisia. Fabregas is the youngest player of Spain participating in the World Cup, initially as a substitute for Luis Garcia in the 77th minute against Ukraine on June 13, 2006 and at that age is still 19 years 41 days. Then Fabregas nominated in the Gillette Young Player of the World Cup but to win the award was named German player Lukas Podolski.
In the EURO 2008 tournament, Fabregas more often as a substitute in the Spanish national team but he did give depth to good effect with the first international goal against Russia. Then Spain won all matches in the allowance for the group. Spain also win in the quarterfinal match against Italy and Fabregas scored during penalty shoot-out after extra time in the match to keep score draw. In the semi-finals when Fabregas made two assists to beat Russia, then in the final, Spain beat Germany to win Euro 2008 since 1964. After resting a few months because of injury, Fabregas back to the national team coached by Vicente del Bosque for the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2009 in the month of July 2009. Fabregas scored two goals against New Zealand but lost to the United States.
Fabregas was selected as part of the Spanish national team squad at the World Cup tournament in 2010. Fabregas did not start the game from the beginning but as a substitute in four of six games. Spain had lost to Switzerland when the allowance at the beginning of the game. However, when Spain won the match in the next allowance against Chile and Honduras. Continued again in the big sixteen, Spain beat Portugal. Then beat Paraguay in the quarter-finals and went on to defeat Germany Spain in the semi-finals and final of World Cup 2010 after defeating the Netherlands in the final.
