Doniéber Alexander Marangon or known by the name of Doni is a Brazilian footballer who was born on October 22, 1979 in Jundiai, São Paulo, Brazil and played as a goalkeeper for the club Liverpool. Doni also holds an Italian passport because his parents came from families Veneto and grandmother came from Mantua.
Doni's football career started when he joined with Rome on August 30, 2005 and he signed a contract for 3 years with a gross value of € 300,000 in the first year. Doni was at first blocked from first team action by Italian U-21 international Gianluca Curci and was restricted to the UEFA Cup games. Because of its impressive appearance, then the contract was extended on April 13, 2006 to € 1,250,000. In his second season with Roma, he's become the best goalkeeper Serie A and Coppa Italia win 2 times in 2007 and 2008, as Serie A runners-up in the same year. Subsequently, in May 2008, his contract was extended until June 2012 and will have an annual gross salary of € 4 million on average (from € 3.8 in the first year to € 4.3M in the last year).
In the second half of the 2008-2009 season, Doni many missed opportunities to play because of injury. He returned to the show during the match against Milan on October 18, 2009, but he lost the opportunity to play again because he was not selected as the main goalkeeper. Doni was signed by Liverpool there on July 15, 2011 on a free transfer, but as part of the deal then the Romans will be paid Doni of € 1.5 million after tax.
Doni gets the first chance to play with the Brazilian national team against Turkey in Dortmund, Germany on June 5, 2007. Coppa America in 2007, he was elected as the first goalkeeper before a match against Mexico, then in the semi-final against Uruguay and in the final when Brazil beat Argentina.
