Pedro Miguel da Silva Mendes, or known by the name of Pedro Mendes was a Portuguese footballer who was born in Guimaraes, Portugal on February 26, 1979, and he plays as a midfielder for the national team of Portugal also shared the club which he joined.
Mendes began his career at junior level with Sporting CP and continued his professional career at Felgueiras in a season loan from Vitória de Guimarães.
He returned to Guimaraes and stayed for four seasons before moving to FC Porto. With Porto, he joined the Champions League won in 2004, the League of Portuguese and Portuguese Supercup.
On July 8, 2004, Mendes joined the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur transfer deal with € 3 million and debuted began on August 14, 2004 against Liverpool. He scored his first league defeat of Everton and a spectacular goal from a distance of 50-yards against Manchester United, but the goal was disallowed. In his second season with Tottenham's role is reduced and only made six appearances.
After the expiration of the contract with Tottenham, Mendes joined Porstmouth on 12 January 2006 with £ 7.5 million transfer fee agreement. He became an important player and helped the club avoid relegation. His debut with the Portsmouth against Everton on 14 January 2006 and printing of simple goal against Manchester City on March 11, 2006. In the 2007-2008 season, Mendes get a chance to play and win the FA Cup against Cardiff City on May 17, 2008 and played in the 2008 FA Community Shield on August 10, 2008 when they lost to Manchester United in a penalty shoot-out.
On August 15, 2008, Mendes signed a contract for three years in the Scottish Premier League with Rangers with a value of £ 3,000,000. Three days later he made his debut against Hearts and scored on 31 August 2008. He was named SPL Player of the Month for August after a string of impressive performances. Mendes suffered an injury the following season in November during a Champions League match against Unirea Urziceni which became his debut with the Rangers last.
On January 30, 2010, Mendes joined Sporting Clube de Portugal with a value of € 1,280,000 and scored win against Everton in the UEFA Europa League as well as against Glasgow Rangers.
Mendes made his debut with the national team of Portugal as a substitute on 20 November 2002 when wins over Scotland and further when it lost to Italy on February 12, 2003. He got the call to play with the national team on August 27, 2008 and started playing in FIFA World Cup qualifier against Hungary in October 2009. Mendes entered the 23-man squad to represent Portugal at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa where he took part in every game including twice as a starter and twice as a substitute.
