Kepler Laveran Lima Ferreira or known by the name Pepe is a Portuguese footballer who was born on February 26, 1983 in Maceió, Brazil on and play as central defender.
Pepe was born in Maceio, Alagoas started playing football with local club Sport Club Corinthians Alagoano. At the age of 18 years, Pepe moved to Portugal and signed by CS Maritimo in Madeira Island and spent most of his first season with the team B. He was promoted to the main squad for the club in season 2002-2003. During pre-season 2003-2004, Pepe returned to Sporting Club de Portugal for two weeks but the deal is not approved, he returned to Maritimo and helping the club qualify for the UEFA Cup after making a contribution with one goal in 30 games.
In the summer of 2004, Pepe was signed with Portuguese division named Porto with a transfer value of € 1 million plus three players. In his first season with Porto, Pepe often sat on the bench but in the following season he became one of the best defender in the domestic competition.
On July 10, 2007, Real Madrid signed a five-year contract to Pepe for a fee of € 30 million.
On March 15, 2008, when Pepe scored against Deportivo La Coruna. On April 21, 2009 he was involved in an incident with Getafe players. Pepe received suspended 10 games played during that effectively until the end of the season.
In season 2009-2010, Pepe returned to play and scored when against Sevilla on October 4, 2009 at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuan. On December 12, when against Valencia, Pepe stretchered out of the field due to rupture a ligament and he spent the rest of the season and even the possibility of chances to play in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
In season 2010-2011, Pepe joined Real Madrid with a value of € 1,800,000 per year. He suffered many injuries during the joint that makes rare Madrid play, but Pepe renew the link to the club until 2015. On April 27, 2011, Pepe to play in the semi-final first leg UEFA Champions League.
Pepe though born in Brazil but he never played for the country and he received Portuguese citizenship in August 2007 and on 30 August 2007 he entered the Portugal squad for the first time in UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying match against Poland.
In the tournament, Pepe played in all matches including against Turkey on June 7, 2008 and Portugal eventually reached the quarter-finals. Pepe was also elected in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and he often played in the position of defensive midfielder. He played in the group stage against Brazil and when in the last 16 game against Spain that eventually become world champion.
