Christian Maggio is an Italian footballer who played in the position of right winger. He was born in Montecchio Maggiore, Italy on February 11, 1982.
Maggio began his career with the football club Vicenza and made his debut Serie A season 2000-2001, he completed his debut in the season by playing as many as six appearances. Although he appears quite good but the Vicenza must go down to Serie B division at the end of the season. Maggio keep playing in Vicenza until 2003 and made 38 total appearances, scoring only one goal.
In 2003, Maggio was signed by the club Fiorentina, but he never made a debut with the club until the end Fiorentina promoted from Serie B for the 2004-2005 season. Overall, Maggio scored 2 goals in 56 appearances with the Viola.
In 2007-2008, he made a very impressive appearance along with Fiorentina and made a lot of attention from several Italian and European clubs.
But eventually Maggio joined and signed a contract with Napoli and the estimated costs under £ 10 million transfer.
Over the past with Napoli, he made his debut consistently resulting in him making the senior international debut against Greece on November 19, 2008. Appearances both lasted one year later against Sweden on November 18, 2009. Both internationally appearance from a friendly match, so he had never done competitive appearance at senior level. On January 24, 2009, Maggio scored with a volley that is good enough when against Livorno. Subsequently, on 6 December 2010, he scored the last second when Napoli win against Palermo.
Maggio usually play as a right midfielder or winger for Napolli since 3-5-2 formation is applied to the club. But for the majority of his career, Maggio play in right back position. Former Italy coach named Dona Doni said that Maggio is the successor Panucci who also played at right back position, but since starting play in increasing its ability winger position and actually better.
