John Gijsbert Alan Heitinga is a Dutch footballer who was born in Alphen aan den Rijn, Netherlands on 15 November 1983 who played in the position of defender or defensive midfielder.
Heitinga is a product of Ajax junior before making his debut in the first season on 26 August 2001 with Feyenoord. Heitinga is a next generation football team, he played a documentary film entitled 'Ajax'.
Heitinga widened first-choice player under coach Co Adrianse and then Ronald Koeman until at last he suffered a knee injury that sidelined him for 6 months before he finally recovered and returned to play in one game that ultimately he suffered another injury and missed him again in the match.
Heitinga back at the beginning of 2003-2004 season and played impressive in his first match since the injury against FC Volendam, where he played in the position of central defender.
At the end of the season 2007-2008, reportedly leaving Ajax Heitinga.
Heitinga joined Athletico Madrid at the end of the 2007-2008 season at a cost of £ 8,800,000. In his first season with Athletico Madrid, Heitinga made 32 appearances and scored 3 goals.
Athletico accepted an offer from Everton for € 7.04million (£ 6.2million) on 30 August 2009. Heitinga made his debut with Everton on 13 September against Fulham. Heitinga made 35 appearances in all competitions at the beginning of his first season with Everton.
On August 25, 2010, Heitinga failed to executor as against FC Huddersfield and he had his position as a regular player somewhat reduced.
Heitinga debut with the Dutch national team on February 18, 2004 in a friendly match against the United States. A few months later when he scored against Greece. Heitinga included in the Dutch squad for the UEFA Euro 2004 although he did not play in the qualifiers for failing to qualify. Heitinga start as first choice in 2 games but in the last game he had not played for a foul. After serving the suspension, Heitinga replace Davids back playing in the quarterfinals against Sweden. Unfortunately Netherlands in the semi-final defeat by Portugal.
Heitinga has never lost a place in the Dutch national team squad.
At the end of 2005, the key to Ajax Heitinga and selected by coach van Basten for the 2006 FIFA World Cup held in Germany.
Heitinga is also called the Dutch squad for the UEFA Euro 2008 in Austria-Switzerland. On 18 November 2009 Heitinga made his 50th appearance for Holland in a friendly against Paraguay.
For the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Heitinga was in the starting line-up for Holland's first game against Denmark. Heitinga appeared in every game until the final round of the 2010 FIFA World Cup is finally defeated by the Spanish.
