James Lee Duncan "Jamie" Carragher or known by the name of Jamie Carragher is an English footballer who was born on January 28, 1978 in Bootle, Merseyside, England and played in the position of defender for club Liverpool.
Although Carrager is a supporter of Everton, but he decided to join Liverpool in 1996 and won the FA Youth Cup. He signed a professional contract in October 1996 and first made his debut three months later in the second leg Champions League semi-final against Middlesbrough as a substitute.
In the 1997-1998 season, Carragher made twenty appearances in the Premier League and became one of the big players club Liverpool.
In 1999-2000, he played primarily at right-back position and scored two goals, but eventually he returned to its original position and make the first senior debut in 2001 by winning the FA Cup, UEFA Cup, League Cup who scored in the final race penalty against Birmingham, in the European Super Cup and Community Shield.
In the 2002-2004 season, Carragher suffered the injury until he could not follow the FIFA World Cup 2002 and then in half of the 2003-2004 season he underwent knee surgery and is rarely played because he has to rest. His position was almost threatened with another player, but he managed to retain and make 24 appearances in the first half of the 2004 season.
In the 2004-2005 season, Carragher became one of the players who participated won the Champions League for Liverpool and he was selected as one of Liverpool's best player at the end of the season. Carragher was selected to captain the club in 2005 and won the UEFA Cup for CSKA Moscow.
Carragher started the 2006 season by playing in the FA Cup final against West Ham. On December 9, 2006, he scored a goal in the league since 1996 when the match against Fulham at Anfield.
In the spring of 2007 the exact date is May 1, 2007, Carragher started the season by playing in the second leg Champions League semi-final and he was elected as a Liverpool player of the Year for the 2006-2007 season.
Carragher record 600th appearance for Liverpool on December 19, 2009 and he became a productive and active players playing for clubs in the Premier League.
In the 2010-2011 season, Carragher playing against Chelsea on February 6, 2011 as previously he had suffered an injury and had to rest. The next appearance on February 24, 2011 as against Sparta Prague at Anfield is the 137th European appearance and a record in the UK. On May 9, 2011 he completed his 666th game for Liverpool against Fulham.
Carragher's first appearance with the English national team in 1996 for the U-21. His international debut against Holland in 2001 and subsequently he was elected to the 2006 FIFA World Cup squad because of the 2002 FIFA World Cup absences due to injury.
On May 11, 2010, Carragher was selected in the squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. He played for England in a friendly against Mexico on May 24, 2010. Carragher was not officially declared retire from international football but he chose to focus with the club Liverpool.
