Lukas Podolski is a German footballer who was born in Gliwice, Poland on June 4, 1985 and he played in the position of striker or winger.
Podolski was born of a father named Waldemar Podolski, who plays professional soccer in Poland by Krystyna Podolska Szombierki Bytom and a former Polish handball player in the Silesian industrial town of Gliwice, Poland. In 1987, when Lukas Podolski was two years old, his family moved from Poland to West Germany and given the status of Aussiedler because his grandparents had German citizenship before World War II. Podolski grew up in Bergheim, North Rhine-Westphalia later in Pulheim. Podolski has a Polish and German citizenship, but he would prefer Germany because Poland does not care about him until when playing for the under-21 team. Podolsi started playing soccer since the age of 6 years along with the junior team of FC Bergheim, until finally he joined Cologne in 1995. In 2003 at the age of 18 years, he still joined the team as the club's young player who was struggling so as not to degrade from the Bundesliga. Although eventually relegated to division two Cologne, but Podolski perform very well, scoring 10 goals in his first 19 appearances at senior level.
Podolski got a call in the squad for the UEFA Euro 2004 Germany and got an offer from the big clubs, but he still stayed in Cologne for help in the promotion at the level of the Bundesliga in the season 2004-2005. Podolski scored 12 goals in the 2005-2006 season, but Cologne is not able to be in level 1 Bundesliga. Podolski finally decided to not with Cologne in the 2006-2007 season because he had struggled for two seasons.
In 2006, the club Munich, Hamburg, Werder Bremen and Real Madrid are interested in signing Podolski. On July 1, 2006 Podolski finally decided to join the Munich with a transfer value is estimated to € 10 million. Podolski debut with Munich the first time on August 11, 2006 as a substitute against Dortmund. On October 26, 2006, Podolski suffered an ankle injury on the right side caused by van Bommel while training and had to rest for five weeks. After recovering from injury, Podolski scored a goal while playing against Alemannia Aachen. Podolski recommend Miroslav Klose that fellow Aussiedler Poland to join with Munich, but instead the club to sign Luca Toni of Italy and its position at the club slightly reduced. Podolski, so decided to go back to Cologne on July 1, 2009. Podolski secured by the German national team coach that his position at the international level will continue to run and he still elected to the German national team squad, and there was an agreement between Munich and Cologne on January 20, 2009 and Lukas Podolski will not be returned to Cologne until the beginning of the summer transfer window on July 1. Podolski joined by Cologne for four years and transfer speculation for € 10 million, equivalent to the cost Bayern to Cologne in 2006. Cologne create a website where people can buy pixels from Lukas Podolski for € 25 per 8x8 pixel square in order to raise € 1 million to reduce transfer costs.
